ECHAM4
Please note that monthly, seasonal and annual mean values of key atmospheric variables over Canada and North America from these GCMs can also be retrieved from the CCCSN web site.
The ECHAM4 model, developed by the Max Planck Institute für Meteorologie in Germany, is based on the prevision model of the European Centre for Medium Range Weather Forecast (ECMWF). The German modeling center and the Max Planck institute have made a number of modifications on this model in order to adapt it to the long-term climatic simulations. It corresponds to the 4th version of the coupled model. A detailed description of ECHAM 4 is available in Roeckner et al. (1996). In this version of the model, 19 vertical levels were used. The prognostic variables, with the exception of water components, are represented by spherical harmonics with triangular truncation and a number of waves of 42 (T42) in its standard version. Its horizontal resolution corresponds to a 128 x 64 points grid and it is constant in longitude with an increment of 2.81° while it varies in latitude.
The full datasets and available documentation of this model version can be found here.
